GOLD AWARD PROJECT

She did it! Congrats Parkway South grad Kristen on achieving the highest level of the Girls Scouts of America. Her focus was on improving eye care for residents of a village in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Members of this village face issues with damaged eyesight due to the lack of medical attention and the proper knowledge of how to keep their eyes healthy.  Everyday they are faced with sand and dirt constantly getting into their eyes as well as poor hygiene and diets lacking in vitamins vital to eye health.  Kristen's project included making pamphlets for the adults and flip books for the children in both English and French as well as collecting eyeglasses, sunglasses, hats and eyewah

Kristen  partnered with "Lighting The Path"  A non-profit organization creating sustainable solutions to alleviating poverty and enriching lives.  Educating to help others become self-reliant and developing effective solutions which will give knowledge and skills that will benefit these individuals for a lifetime.
